Megan Lewis, M.D.

Dr. Megan Lewis grew up in Albuquerque, NM. She
graduated cum laude from New Mexico State University with a degree in Microbiology
and minors in English and Chemistry. She completed
medical school at the University of New Mexico School of
Medicine. Her specialty training in Family Medicine took
place in South Bend, Indiana where she trained in pediatrics,
gynecology, adult and geriatric medicine, as well as obstetrics
and surgical procedures.
In 1998, she moved to Farmington, NM where she pursued private
practice for several years. She also served as Medical and
Laboratory Director for the Urgent Care Center in Farmington.
Dr.
Lewis, her husband Steve, and their two children moved to
Durango in March of 2004. Now that Dr. Lewis was living in the
place of her dreams, she began to pursue her ideal model for health
care.
She dreamed of a new model
of medicine where patients come first and time is available
for meeting both patient's and doctor's needs.
Mountain View Family HealthCare was born out of a true need for a
new direction in the delivery of personalized outpatient medical
care.

Dr. Lewis graduated from a world class innovative teaching
design (The Primary Care Curriculum) that has now been adopted
by schools such as Harvard for teaching medical students.

Memorial Family Pratice Residency: 1998
Memorial Hospital of South Bend is a 526 bed hospital
providing care to northern Indiana and southern Michigan.
Memorial Family Practice Residency Program provided an
exceptional internship and residency for Dr. Lewis. It was at
this institution where she learned the fundamentals necessary
to provide caring, evidenced-based medical treatment to
patients of all ages.

Dr. Lewis earned her original certification in July 1998.
She recertified in July of 2004.
Board certification requires testing every seven years to
meet the high standards set by the American Board of Family
Medicine. Certification also requires ongoing medical
education yearly in order to remain current in the ever
increasing volume of medical knowledge and research.
